About the Programme
The project aims to introduce Intangible Cultural Heritage to residents in Kwai Tsing across different age groups, including children, teenagers, adults and the elderly. Drumming workshops, talks, concerts and various activities will be organised with a view to strengthening understanding of traditional Chinese culture and promoting Jiangzhou Drum, as well as cultivating residents' interest in music. The project will also offer ensemble-friendly drumming workshops for participants, fostering the continued development of traditional drum music culture within Kwai Tsing.

About the Group
Founded in 2007 by the young percussionist, Leung Ching-kit, Refiner Drums is made up of over 20 young members. Since its founding, it has participated in several editions of the Hong Kong Synergy 24 Drum Competition and won over 60 awards.
Refiner Drums has been steadfast in its goal, which is to spread and develop Chinese drum music culture, through dedicated efforts to perform and continue to ‘refine’ the drum repertoire to share with the audience.

All activities of the scheme are free of charge.
The programme is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
