About the Programme

Target participants of the scheme are youngsters. Activities include Cantonese Opera Fun Day, workshops, Cantonese Opera Interactive Shows-cum-Demonstrations, Cantonese Opera Showcases and more. Apart from continuing the Cantonese Opera classes, the Chinese dance workshop and other activities will be arranged to cultivate youngsters' interests in and appreciation of these traditional arts forms, and cultural values can be transmitted to the generations.

About the Group

The Love and Faith Cantonese Opera Laboratory was founded in 1993 by renowned Cantonese Opera actress, CHEUNG Po-wah, in Hong Kong. Its mission is to promote Chinese Opera, with a particular focus on Cantonese Opera, and to preserve and enhance local cultural heritage. The arts group also aims to cultivate the Cantonese Opera skills of young actors. Since its establishment, it has not only staged numerous Cantonese opera productions but has also run a variety of adult and youth training courses. The arts group is frequently invited to appear at major events. It has been invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department on multiple occasions to coordinate various Cantonese Opera promotion schemes.

All activities of the scheme are free of charge.

The programme is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
