About the Programme
The project aims to enhance cultural engagement within the district by offering a diverse range of drum music training workshops including Chinese drum training for youth, Chinese drum training workshop for elderly, Cajón workshop, as well as outdoor photography workshop and story writing workshop. Alongside these activities, there will be project activation concert, drum trial sessions, exhibitions, finale performances and so on, providing residents with opportunities to appreciate and engage with traditional drum music.

About the Group
Founded in 1998 by CHIN Kwok-wai, the Hong Kong Drum Ensemble is actively involved in philanthropic initiatives and regularly hosts drum music concerts. The group frequently participates in large-scale celebratory events. In 2017, they received invitations to tour 11 cities across 7 European countries, showcasing their talents. The same year, they collaborated with the Sha Tin Arts and Culture Promotion Committee to curate and perform in the Sha Tin Drum Festival: Percussion Showcase. Their 20th-anniversary concert received widespread acclaim in 2018. In 2019, they partnered with Hugo Records to release their third critically acclaimed album.

All activities of the scheme are free of charge.
The programme is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
