About the Programme

Target participants of the scheme are youngsters. Apart from continuing the Cantonese Opera classes, the Chinese dance workshop and other activities will be arranged to cultivate youngsters’ interests in and appreciation of these traditional arts forms, and cultural values can be transmitted to the generations.

About the Group

The Love and Faith Cantonese Opera Laboratory was founded in 1993 by renowned Cantonese Opera actress, CHEUNG Po-wah, in Hong Kong. Its mission is to promote Chinese Opera, with a particular focus on Cantonese Opera, and to preserve and enhance local cultural heritage. The arts group also aims to cultivate the Cantonese Opera skills of young actors. It has been invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department on multiple occasions to coordinate various Cantonese Opera promotion schemes. Since the 2020-21, the arts group has been participating in the "18dART - Sai Kung Community Arts Scheme" with their production titled "Cantonese Opera and Shadow Puppetry for Youngsters".

The programme is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
