Lantern Design Display of Students and Persons with Disabilities

This year marks the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and coincides with the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG). In light of this, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has specially set up a large lantern installation at Victoria Park from 30 September to 7 October 2025 showcasing lantern creations of students and persons with disabilities, allowing their works to be featured in the largest Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival in Hong Kong, while celebrating the 15th NG, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG, as well as the National Day. This Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival is also one of the events of the Chinese Culture Festival.

The Lantern Design Display, themed around supporting the 15th NG, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG / celebrating the National Day / celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival is suitable for students from primary schools, secondary schools and special schools, as well as persons with disabilities. They can participate by either drawing their lantern designs on the lanterns provided by LCSD or creating unique lanterns of their own design. These lanterns will be displayed at the Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival to be held in the Victoria Park. The Lantern Design Display aims to enhance the interest of participants in traditional Chinese craftsmanship, as well as to promote and inherit local intangible cultural heritage. It also provides the public with an opportunity to appreciate the artistic creativity of participants as well as supporting the 15th NG, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG and celebrating the National Day together. The participation in the event is free of charge. Both individual and group creations are welcome.
