With a long history, the Lantern Festival is a major festive occasion in China, and the lantern carnival is one of the most celebrated events of the year. To celebrate the festival, every year the Leisure and Cultural Services Department organises Lunar New Year Lantern Carnivals in Hong Kong. The carnivals feature spectacular lantern displays as well as stage performances. Members of the public can imitate the literati of bygone days, taking part in lantern riddle games and different workshops to make the most of the festive season.

Lunar New Year Thematic Lantern Displays

During Lunar New Year, lanterns are hung high everywhere. We have displayed lanterns at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, bringing joy to everyone and showing tourists the exquisite handicraft that we take pride in.
