The programme aims to promote and nurture interest of pop music for teenagers in Kwai Tsing District. On top of workshops, various activities will also be arranged to facilitate the appreciation of the community and the transformation of the life stories into music and related art creations.
To stage an opening performance and introduce pop music to locals.
The newly recruited musicians will participate in a series of workshops, including Kwai Tsing History Exploration, Interviewing Skills and Songs Creation u0026amp; Composition Coaching.
Under the guidance of mentors, participants will write 10 personalised stories after the community interviews.
Participants will create and produce 10 songs in groups based on the stories collected from community interviews under the guidance of Chow Yiu-fai and Fung Wing-ki, Vicky. They will also produce videos by using the scenes in which each of the songs were dedicated to its protagonist. The videos will be uploaded to the YouTube channel of 18dART Community Arts Scheme.
10 community stories will be showcased in two touring performances separately, interviews’ video, sharing cum live performance will be included.
In view of the development of the pandemic, the community touring performances were cancelled and replaced by a pre-recorded video.
Tailor-made sound devices will be installed at public facilities, merchants or various landmarks in Kwai Tsing so that the neighborhoods and customers, etc. can stop by any time and put on headphones to enjoy the music pieces composed by the young musicians.
Participants will present all the songs at an outdoor venue, featuring the community stories gathered from Kwai Tsing District.
