Ancient Musical Instrument Class

Participants can experience and learn the techniques of playing the imitations of the unique ancient musical instruments. In addition, the relationship between the murals in Dunhuang and the ancient musical instruments will also be introduced. Participants will have a chance to join the Finale Concert to showcase their achievements to the community as well. There are nine different classes:

Basic Class (5 Classes)
Percussion (hand drum and flat drum)
Xun (traditional wind instrument)
Konghou (traditional harp)
Ruan (traditional plucked string instrument)
Gogen-biwa (traditional plucked string instrument)

Advance Class (4 Classes)
Percussion (hand drum and flat drum)
Xun (traditional wind instrument)
Konghou (traditional harp)
Ruan (traditional plucked string instrument)

Date: 9.2022-3.2023 (14 sessions in total)
Time: 1 hour per session
Venue: Maryknoll Secondary School or Ko Lui Secondary School or Church of Christ in China Mong Man Wai College (Depends on the class enrolled)
Target participants: Teenager aged 10-15 (Primary 4 to Secondary 3 students)
Tutors: Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble
